Hannah volunteers at ‘mock interview day’

Well done to Hannah Bentley, who is a Resourcing Business Partner in our Manchester office, who recently used a Chase de Vere Volunteering Day to help students practice their interviewing techniques by taking part in a ‘mock interview day’.

Chase de Vere supports colleagues who wish to offer their time and skills to work in their local communities, or to support charities, by giving them two days paid holiday each year to undertake volunteering activities.

Hannah volunteered at a school in Eccles, in Greater Manchester, where she ‘interviewed’ year 11 students, to help give them an idea of what it’s like to be in an employment interview. The students fill in an application form with their predicted grades, interests in and outside of school, and Hannah, and the other volunteers, ask them questions around their strengths, weaknesses, skills and aspirations. They also have the chance to ask her any questions at the end.

Hannah says, “We never had anything like this when I was in school, and it would have been so helpful to have had that experience and to be able to candidly ask for hints and tips from people who do it every day.

“It feels good to be able to give back to the community, and it’s great that Chase de Vere supports this through the Volunteering Days, as I know that the students really get a lot out of it.”
