Your estate is the result of a career of hard work and commitment. Whether that’s represented through property, investments, savings or personal possessions, it’s in your best interests to ensure your assets are distributed in the most effective manner possible, and to those you wish to benefit.
Estate planning takes into consideration: planning for old age or mental incapacity; passing wealth on to loved ones through trusts, gifts, investments and other methods; leaving behind charitable donations and much more.
Expert, specialist advice from Chase de Vere Dental will ensure each eventuality and option is carefully considered, so that you can be safe in the knowledge that comprehensive plans are in place. Your adviser will work out the amount of Inheritance Tax (IHT) you’re likely to face, suggest ways to hold assets more tax-efficiently, discuss how to use gifts and exemptions from IHT, and ensure you’re in control when it comes to how your wealth is passed on.
There are two well-known certainties in life: death and taxes. Inheritance Tax spans both, although it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s possible to pay no Inheritance Tax at all or to avoid large parts of it with the right organisation of your assets, known as Inheritance Tax Planning.
The nil-rate band means the first £325,000 of every estate is exempt from Inheritance Tax (IHT). The government are phasing in the residence nil-rate band which is worth an extra £175,000 per person, meaning the IHT-free allowance for many people will be £500,000. Married couples and civil partners can pass this value on to one another, meaning the allowance can be worth up to £1 million. For estates over this value, the IHT rate is 40%.
